A downloadable novelty for Windows

SuperCRT is a small Windows app that samples a region of the screen and draws it to another window using the CRT simulation from Super Win the Game.

Hit Esc while focused on the sim window to customize the CRT settings.

Edit the included SuperCRT.ini config file to adjust the dimensions of the source window. Note that the simulated CRT artifacts will be less intense at higher resolutions.

Curious how it works? Check out this blog I wrote for Gamasutra: http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/KylePittman/20150420/241442/CRT_Simulation_in_Super_Win_the_Game.php

i dont like this bc it doesnt work with making the screen the crt, it only makes it in a small little window

(+2)

that's all it says it does. did you read the description?

(1 edit)

Super CRT is cool! although it probably must have a version

where the CRT lets you view the size as your desktop ranging from all different sizes from the lowest to the most ultra-high

one that a computer can handle!

Kyle, You are the best and I can tell!

EDIT: Also put video settings for the for the resolutions and display (Like Borderless window, Fullscreen, and the normal window everyone sees when they open a windows app.).

hi! is there a way to have the image stay active/updating, even when the window is minimized? i want to stream it but i'd like it to not take up so much monitor space.

There is no way to put the window at the full-size.

Hey, I'm wondering how is this usable? I'm trying to watch a movie with this sim, but I want it only on my second monitor. I don't want to have a smaller version of the movie taking up part of my other screen. How can I use this to view the movie and CRT sim on only one screen, without any weird recurring visuals?

Hi, I was wondering if there's any way for me to simulate my entire screen without having a tunnel effect appear? Do I need to have multiple monitors for this to work? ty <3

For those that are having issues with the window being offset, you have to set your device's scale and layout to 100%. Just look up on your Windows search and type in "Display size"

wow, the style is pretty cool

this is 1 excellent way to make DVD rips looks better on Higher resolutions

hi, question: is it posable to show your cursor on this?

my problem is I am trying to play lol with this and its hard to see where I am going XD

I love the filters but without pointer its hard to play the game.

I know its original for emulating and controller, is there something I can change some where to see my cursor?

Amazing software, probably one of the best ways to play undertale. Wish it had more aritfacts emulation, but even as it is right now, I love it.

So the image is offset and including part of it's own window border?? Is there a fix for this?

I have exactly the same doubt. I am trying to use it with Project64. I set the emulator window to 640x480 and the CRTSim capture window to the same size. I want to get it to capture that window and play it full screen with CRT emulation, but I can't. Some help? The full screen appears with gray stripes.

I also tried resizing the CRTSim capture window to my notebook's full screen size (in my case 1366x768) but that didn't work either.

Well, I couldn't do it but I did get the result I was looking for with the RetroArch emulator (Mupen64Plus-Next), using the "VHS" + "FXAA" shaders. Full screen and CRT effect identical to old televisions.

For those that are stuck in full screen, that's how to solve it:

1st: Go to "C:\users\%username%\Documents\My Games\Super CRT Sim\Config"
(where %username% is your username).

2nd:
Open the "Config.ini" file.

3rd: Search for these lines:
Fullscreen: true
FullscreenWindowed: false

and change them to
Fullscreen: false
FullscreenWindowed: true

4th:
Save the file and close it.

5th:
Open the program again. It should open in windowed mode now.

If it doesn't solve it, just delete the "My Games" folder (it will reset all your configurations).

I have a problem that I set the program in full screen and now I can't change it back. I tried even deleting the program and installing it again but didn't work. Could you say where do you save the settings, so I can change it to windowed to fix it? Sorry about my English.

The options are saved in "C:\users\%username%\My Games\Super CRT Sim\Config"
(where %username% is your username).

Absolutely loved it, I would use it more if I had 2 monitors, it would be perfect if this could be implemented in RetroArch somehow.

Hey, thanks for this tool!

However, I found an annoying bug. After setting fullscreen it is impossible to go back into windowed mode. Saving changes is just doing nothing - the option is reverted. this renders software completely unusable for me as in fullscreen it is impossible to capture anything on a single screen. Especially when this software has the highest z-axis priority, even above Task manager... Swapping between fullscreen / both borderless works, only windowed is bugged.  Surprisingly this is persistent even after... deleting the folder? Are options saved in a separate path?

The options are saved in "C:\users\%username%\My Games\Super CRT Sim\Config"
(where %username% is your username).

Was disappointed at it’s capabilities at first. Turns out, i’m just being dumb and all i had to do was read the description! lol I love it!

Thank you for making this! Above all, thank you for making this free! Because of that, wanna try to collab for a small project? I’ll provide art assets for free.

I LOVE THIS! I'd love it if we could resize the window. I'd honestly use my computer fully in crt for a couple days. I'd be willing to pay for this feature

Hey, there! You can change the size of the capture and the CRT on your second display. In the zip, there's a file called "SuperCRT.ini". You can modify the values for the capture window. Change it to the values below and you have a full capture for your average monitor.

SrcX=1920

SrcY=1080

The CRT display window can also be resized for viewing but clicking and dragging the bottom right corner to fill your screen. Enjoy!

WOOOO I guess I got no choice but to pay up lol. I love the afterimage some things leave. Amazing work!

(+1)

Wait, i cant donate here, I'm gonna buy the game instead.

A perfect way to show your appreciation to them :D

Very cool

I downloaded this but for some reason it doesn't work properly :( there's an offset between what the CRT screen shows and the other window, and sometimes a portion of the window itself is visible in the CRT screen too.

Fantastic job on this! I've been hoping for something like this for years. THANK YOU

Hi! A friend has a problem with this. It kinda works fine but the small window that captures areas isn't transparent and it captures the area next to it, not inside the not-transparent area, like an invisible square next to the window.

This is great!

I noticed this got updated, and I don't remember having the option to set custom resolution before.
I'm very happy to see the little tool being updated, as I'm kind of obsessed with using it as of late :D

You have to be on two monitors.  The program will consist of two windows. One that will look like just an empty frame and one that's the CRT-looking version of what's inside that empty frame window.

You'll need to have each of those two windows on separate monitors or you'll get that effect like holding two mirrors at each other.

any update on this? Really the only feature missing there is ability to change resolution of the input window

(+3)

I would pay to be able to run the whole screen at once with this, tbh.

So would I

(2 edits) (+1)

Awesome! I would also love to see this extended with some more options, and the ability to turn the entire screen into one big crt (and for what it's worth, I would definitely pay for that functionality).

Same

GNU/Linux? •ﻌ•

That's quite nice indeed. Would be really cool to get the whole screen filtered and maybe even a menu to tinker with the settings (like you get with SWTG, GA ...).

(+3)

That would be super nice!
